Boston Celtics Trade For Nikola Vucevic

Over the years, the Boston Celtics have been a team that is always a top of the Eastern Conference and a legit title contender, but have not seemed to figure out what the problem is in terms of reaching the NBA Finals. They have not had a chance to fight for a title since 2010 and numerous superstar players being brought in has not solved the puzzle.

With Kemba Walker, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown as the Celtics “Big 3,” they definitely have a shot to make the NBA Finals, but their chances are small given the talent on the Nets, 76ers and Bucks in the Eastern Conference. If the Celtics are going to make a statement and solidify themselves as one of the teams to beat, then they are going to have to make a push for Nikola Vucevic.

He last made the All-Star game during the 2018-19 season, but Nikola Vucevic is definitely on-track to be named an All-Star once again this year. The 30-year old center is undoubtedly the best player on the Magic’s roster and one of the better overall centers in the entire NBA.

One of the biggest needs for the Boston Celtics over the years has been in their frontcourt, as they have not had a reliable big man they could lean on. This offseason, they signed Tristan Thompson and he has been solid for them, but bringing in Nikola Vucevic would be a game-changer for this organization as they look to make it back to their first NBA Finals since 2010.

The only question about this trade is if Orlando is willing to part with their All-Star center, Nikola Vucevic and if they would be getting enough value back in return for him. The Magic have a solid group of young talent and are clinging to some playoff hopes right now, but they are in no shape to be a championship contender for years.

It would be hard to convince the Magic to trade Vucevic, especially since he is their best player and one of the best centers in the entire league, but if there is one team that has the assets to trade for him, it is “Dealer Danny” a.k.a. GM Danny Ainge and the Celtics’ front-office. Boston has six draft picks over the next two seasons and key trade assets like Marcus Smart, Daniel Theis and Romeo Langford who could be packaged together to acquire Vucevic.

If the Boston Celtics can acquire Nikola Vucevic, then there is no reason they could not make the NBA Finals this season. Brad Stevens is a fantastic head coach and with 4 superstar players to compete against the best of the best in the Eastern Conference, the Celtics would be one of the betting favorites to win the NBA Finals.
