4 teams who could pursue a trade for Magic star Aaron Gordon

Since entering the NBA in 2014, Aaron Gordon has not been a great player, but he has done his job for the Orlando Magic. He is not a high volume scorer, nor is he a big factor on the defensive-end of things, but Gordon has consistently been a double-digit scorer who can contribute as an aggressive rebounder and transition nightmare.

Given his versatility and athleticism for his size, Aaron Gordon is almost impossible to stop in transition and if you are not careful, he will put you on a poster. This is why he could end up being a prime trade target for many teams around the league around this season’s NBA trade deadline.

Aaron Gordon is in the second-to-last year of his four-year, $80M contract and while he is still owed over $34M through the 2021-22 season, he can be a really solid contributor for a championship contender or a team that is lacking overall productivity. This season, he is 4th on the Magic in scoring and is their second-best rebounder.

While the Magic have had a playoff looking roster in recent years and some young talent they have developed into solid players, they are still nowhere near competing in the Eastern Conference. Nikola Vucevic is their best player and with him putting together another All-Star like season, he has solidified himself as one of the best centers in the NBA.

It does not seem like the Magic view Aaron Gordon as a long-term contributor for them, as he has reached the peak form of what he will be in the league and there have been no discussions about a possible contract-extension after his current contract is up. With the Magic ready to move on from the 25-year old forward, it makes sense for them to trade him now rather than later, especially since his value is still fairly reasonable.

With that being said, let’s take a look at four teams who could pursue a trade for Aaron Gordon from the Orlando Magic.
