Mavericks Will Miss Playoffs Without Big Move At NBA Trade Deadline
This is pretty self-explanatory and quite honestly, should not really be questioned. If the Mavericks do not trade for Buddy Hield from the Kings, that is fine, but they are going to need to make some kind of a big move near the NBA trade deadline if they are going to make it back to the playoffs this year.
We have reached that point in the season where teams start to separate themselves in terms of record and standings and right now, the Mavericks are in the same category as teams like the Timberwolves, Wizards and Pistons — teams that are not going to make the playoffs.
Granted that Dallas is currently just two games back from being the 8-seed in the Western Conference and are still very much alive in the playoff picture, they just do not have the firepower to win games late in the year when they matter most.
Luka Doncic can only do so much for this team and organization without any help and Kristaps Porzingis does not look like the dominant All-Star he once was. Maybe it is because his knee is still healing and he is not 100% in shape to be playing the minutes he is, but Porzingis honestly looks like a great complimentary player and nothing special.
He is a great second leading scorer for this team don’t get me wrong, but he alone cannot fill the production the Mavericks need next to Luka Doncic. They are going to need to be aggressive this season and try to add another dynamic offensive talent if they are going to remain relevant in the Western Conference.
Time will tell what the Dallas Mavericks have planned moving forward with the rest of the season, but unless they add more talent to this roster, they are not championship contenders and probably will fail to make the playoffs.
