Why This Trade Would Benefit The Minnesota Timberwolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves are built in the complete opposite way that the Chicago Bulls are currently. This means that they could get together and make a deal that helps both sides.
The Timberwolves are loaded in the backcourt. Players like D’Angelo Russell or Anthony Edwards could play point guard. Rubio has started just three games for the Timberwolves this season. He is not being used as their starting point guard, which means it would not hurt much to send him away.
In other news, Karl-Anthony Towns is the lone credible big man on the roster. Of the top eight scorers on the team, there are two big men — Towns and Naz Reid. Thaddeus Young is a veteran who could help in the frontcourt with his defensive versatility and playmaking.
Thaddeus Young will not excite many people but he has been an above average forward throughout his career. This would solidify the frontcourt when Karl-Anthony Towns returns to the floor.
