3 intriguing future trade targets for Washington Wizards to monitor

Many believed that the acquisition of Russell Westbrook during the offseason would propel the Washington Wizards to being a playoff team in the Eastern Conference, but early on in the year, the Wizards have proved everyone wrong. They are one of the worst teams in the NBA by a wide margin and outside of Bradley Beal and Russell Westbrook, it is like rolling the dice at a craps table!

From season ending injuries to virtually everyone on the team being out at one point in COVID-19 protocols, the Washington Wizards have been a mess this season and it does not look like things are going to get much better. With big man Thomas Bryant out for the year, the Wizards have virtually no frontcourt depth and will be the favorites to get the number one pick in the draft unless they make a move to acquire a big man at the NBA trade deadline.

With Bradley Beal and Russell Westbrook taking up about $70M in cap space this season alone, Washington does not have much flexibility to pull off a big move, especially if they keep Davis Bertans, who is owed $80M through 2024.

If the Wizards want to try and turn things around this season, then they are going to have to be willing to trade anyone other than Westbrook or Beal because this team is terrible. Their only chance to improve this year is to add a legit frontcourt threat, otherwise, this team may not win 20 games.

With that being said, let’s take a look at three intriguing big men trade targets for the Washington Wizards as the NBA trade deadline rapidly approaches.
