Nikola Vucevic – Orlando Magic
Nikola Vucevic’s value is at an all-time high right now and with him being 30-years old, the Magic could possibly look to trade their star big man away for the right package in return. Orlando has struggled a lot this season and with all the injuries on their roster, it is a long-shot to believe this team will make the playoffs and if they do, they would stand no chance in the first-round.
Out of all the centers in the league, Vucevic currently ranks 4th in scoring, 2nd in three-point shooting percentage, 7th in rebounding, and tied for 4th in double-doubles. His production on the offensive end of the court makes him one of the better overall centers in the league and as a result, he could be what the Spurs have been searching for in a big man ever since Tim Duncan retired.
The only true center that has played in every game for the Spurs is Jakob Poetlt and while they gave him a big three-year, $27M contract prior to this season, they do not utilize him much other than for his rebounding, as he is currently averaging more than 6 boards per game. Adding Nikola Vucevic as their main big man not only gives the Spurs one of the best frontcourt players in the league, but another double-digit scorer on their roster.
He is everything every team looks for in a center and with him only being 30-years old, he can still contribute at a high, championship-type level for many years to come. It is a no-brainer for the Spurs to add Nikola Vucevic, but it is a matter of what they would have to give up in return for him.
If they were to add Nikola Vucevic, it seems reasonable that the Spurs would trade away LaMarcus Aldridge since he is in the final year of his contract and since his contract is only $2M less than Nikola’s. Not only is he an overall better talent than Aldridge, but Vucevic could be the focal point of this Spurs organization for many years to come.
