Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Washington Wizards

It is very clear the Westbrook being in Washington is not going to solve this organization’s problems, which is why they should look to move him as soon as possible. Bradley Beal is the only player on this roster that they should be concerned about and with him being unhappy, Washington’s front office is on “thin ice” right now. 

They need to do everything they can to salvage their relationship with Beal and trading away Russell Westbrook would definitely be a step in the right direction. The Wizards need any sort of talent because their roster is probably one of the worst in the league in terms of pure talent. 

There are some young players with potential on this team, but at the end of the day, the Wizards look like a team that is not going to win more than 20 games. Trading Westbrook and acquiring talent that can help now and in the future gives this organization hope and possibly gives them another chance with Beal. 

If the Wizards lose Bradley Beal, then they are going to be at the bottom of the standings in the NBA for many years to come, which is why they have to try and do everything to please him. Getting Brunson, Richardson, Powell, Johnson and a couple draft picks could go a long way into building a sustainable team over the next few seasons. 

Maybe they could get more value in terms of draft capital somewhere else, but trading Russell Westbrook needs to be in the minds of this Wizards franchise. He does not present a path to winning for them and as a result, they need to be willing to cut ties with him as soon as possible for as much value as they can get.
