Why This Trade Would Benefit The Sacramento Kings
As of now, De’Aaron Fox has not been mentioned in many NBA trade rumors. He is the one piece of the Sacramento Kings that has looked like the real deal — providing little reason to actively seek out trade packages. Especially since he hasn’t even started his max contract extension yet.
In this scenario, the Boston Celtics would simply be providing an offer that provides enough compensation to be potentially enticing to the Kings. Multiple first round picks, two intriguing young prospects, and Kemba Walker would be at least worth entertaining.
It might make more sense for this Kings team to decide to build around De’Aaron Fox but it all depends on what the Celtics will be offering. It begins with Kemba Walker who is an All-Star caliber point guard himself and knows how to lead a team. He could thrive alongside Tyrese Haliburton and Buddy Hield throughout games.
From a big picture perspective, the Kings would benefit from the dynamic shot creation that Kemba Walker brings to the table as Tyrese Haliburton develops into being the point guard of the future.
At some point, constantly missing the playoffs has to wear on De’Aaron Fox. He is playing in his fourth season with the Kings and they still appear unlikely to land a spot in the Western Conference playoff picture. Even if they did, they’d get easily eliminated in the first round.
This trade with certainly shock fans all over, especially in Sacramento, but it might work out in the long run. If Boston comes with an intriguing offer, Sacramento at least have to listen.
