Gary Harris – Denver Nuggets

While Gary Harris showed promise early in his career to be a great “3-and-D” player, his shooting numbers and offensive production has declined through the years due to injuries. His struggles have definitely affected the Nuggets and if he continues to struggle on the offensive end of the court, Denver could look to move the 26-year old guard.

Harris is a proven double-digit scorer on the wing and bringing in a career 35.6% three-point percentage to the Raptors could help them greatly, but it is his defensive play style that would make him an asset in Toronto. The Raptors have always been a really solid defensive team, but this year, they have declined in defensive efficiency and are not as good on the perimeter defensively compared to years past.

Bringing in Gary Harris not only gives the Raptors a legit perimeter defender, but somebody they can count on in the second-unit, especially if guys like O.G. Anunoby or Norman Powell are out of the lineup. With him being owed over $39M through the 2021-22 season, the Raptors would have to shift some contracts around, but they could potentially make a trade for Harris work.

Overall, the Raptors are not a bad team and have the makings of being a legit playoff team in the Eastern Conference, but they seem to be missing some depth on the wing. Kyle Lowry, Fred VanVleet, Norman Powell, O.G. Anunoby and Pascal Siakam have all been solid for Toronto this year, as has Chris Boucher off-the-bench, but outside of these six guys, they really do not have any other reliable options.

Trading for Gary Harris gives the Raptors another young talent to work with and with a new team, the young guard could get back to being a 15+ points per game talent. Toronto needs a “3-and-D” player, which is why Gary Harris is a nice fit for them.
