Detroit Pistons
With the Houston Rockets trading away both Russell Westbrook and James Harden, it is clear that this organization is looking to rebuild and as a result, they could be very willing to listen to offers for Eric Gordon near the NBA trade deadline this season. While he signed a four-year contract-extension before the start of the 2019-20 season, the Rockets are in no position to contend right now and would likely be willing to deal their veteran players for the right price. This should intrigue the Detroit Pistons.
Eric Gordon has consistently been one of the better offensive players for the Rockets year-in and year-out and is now in his fifth year with this organization. Up until last year, Gordon was extremely durable and played in almost every game for the Rockets.
Over the course of his career, he has averaged 16.6 points and has shot 42.5% from the floor and 36.9% from three-point range. After dealing with some injuries last season that kept him sidelined for most of the year, Eric Gordon has looked great to begin this season with the Houston Rockets and could be an excellent veteran leader this younger Pistons need to finally be relevant in the Eastern Conference.
While he is not going to come in and have a breakout season moving forward like Jerami Grant has this year, Eric Gordon can supply the Pistons with sustainability next to their star wing and veteran leadership. The Pistons are going to be one of the younger teams in the NBA next year since they will be moving on from some of their veteran players, giving Gordon the opportunity to help build something special in Detroit.
The Pistons have sorely lacked impact at the shooting guard position for plenty of NBA seasons now. Being able to have a proven talent like Eric Gordon, who is under-contract through the 2023-24 season, could be extremely beneficial for the Pistons, especially because of the lack of overall talent this team has in terms of perimeter production.
The addition of Gordon gives the Pistons a true, reliable scoring option that can be utilized in the starting rotation next to Jerami Grant and their young core moving forward.
