Why This Trade Would Benefit The Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks are trying to figure out their identity. They are on the cusp of being a contender in the Western Conference but they are just not there yet. They got a taste of postseason life last season and it proved even further that they have an elite player in Luka Doncic.
Luka Doncic is one of the top players in the league and an MVP candidate early on this season. If the Mavericks were to make a deal, it was assumed that it would be for a third star to add to their duo. That might not be the case if they want to get a player like Myles Turner and some draft capital.
After making the blockbuster for Kristaps Porzingis, it would be interesting to see the team part ways with him already. His health is the reason why. Porzingis has struggled with injuries since prior to his arrival in Dallas and that has continued.
This could be a deal to point the Mavericks in a different direction with a more cost effective stretch-five. If the Mavericks are looking to get a player with better durability, Turner is one of the best names on the market.
