Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Miami Heat
Fully healthy, the Miami Heat have a really deep roster and an overall championship caliber roster, but that has been the problem this year — they have not been fully healthy. Whether it is COVID-19 protocols or actual injuries, we have not seen this Heat team at full strength, which is quite concerning.
Adding bench depth could be vital to this team’s success and bringing in a guy like Lou Williams, who has won the Sixth-Man of the Year Award three times, could be a difference maker. Although he has struggled this season, Williams is a proven guard and is arguably the best bench player in the history of the NBA.
The scoring he can produce off-the-bench and the experience he would bring to this young Heat team would be extremely important to their chances of making it back to the NBA Finals. The only question is if they would be willing to part ways with Kendrick Nunn, especially after a fantastic rookie season last year.
With Goran Dragic in his mid-30’s now and with Avery Bradley just being a veteran bench presence for this team, Kendrick Nunn represents the future of the point guard position for the Miami Heat. Are they really willing to part ways with him in order to try and secure a championship with a veteran, established player like Lou Williams?
