This Cavs-Mavs trade sends a needed shooter to Dallas

With Kristaps Porzingis back in the lineup and Luka Doncic looking like one of the frontrunners for the NBA MVP award this season, the Dallas Mavericks are definitely a team to look out for in the Western Conference, but they are still dealing with some issues.

This team has lost 4 of their last 6 games and a large part of that is because they are dead last in the NBA in shooting from three-point range. Compared to last year, where they were one of the best three-point shooting teams, Dallas has really struggled to find production outside of Tim Hardaway Jr. from deep this season.

A large part of their lack of success is because of guys going in and out of health and safety protocols and missing weeks of action, but overall, this team still has a problem with depth on the wing. Dorian Finney-Smith is not that great of a perimeter threat and Josh Richardson has only played in 11 games for the Mavs this year because of COVID-19 protocols.

If this team is going to live up to the hype this year and be a legit playoff team instead of a team that gets beat 4-0 or 4-1 in the first round of the playoffs, then they will need to look to add some depth on the wing near this season’s NBA trade deadline.

The Cavaliers have had a lot of focus on them due to their abundance of talent in their frontcourt, but they do have an intriguing young player on the wing who could fit in nicely next to Luka and Kristaps. Let’s take a look at a potential trade between the Cavs and Mavs that would send an intriguing young wing player to Dallas.
