Zach LaVine
Over the years, Zach LaVine has been getting better and better as an all-around player and is an All-Star level talent, but because the Bulls have been so bad over the years, LaVine has not received the recognition he deserves. Last season, the 25-year old wing averaged 25.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists and shot 45% from the floor, 38% from three-point range.
So far this season in 17 games, LaVine is averaging 27.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and is shooting 50.2% from the floor, 39.7% from three-point range. He is a three-level scorer who can score from the perimeter all the way to the paint and is a freak athlete who can push the ball in transition.
Outside of Trae Young right now, the Hawks have a lot of really solid role players, but with Gallinari and Bogdanovic both being out, they do not have a reliable No. 2 option to help Young on the offensive end of the court. Both John Collins and De’Andre Hunter have stepped into bigger roles this year, but have also seen their fair share of struggles at times.
Bringing in a guy like Zach LaVine makes a lot of sense for the Hawks, especially given their willingness to spend money this offseason to have a chance at making a run at the postseason. With LaVine in the backcourt next to Trae Young, there is no reason why this team cannot and will not be in the playoffs.
You can never have too much talent on your roster in the NBA and regardless of position, acquiring Zach LaVine would do wonders for this Hawks team. At full strength, they are not only one of the best three-point shooting teams in the league, but they are already a high-scoring, offensive-minded team.
Adding Zach LaVine to the mix only bolsters their firepower on the offensive end of the court and gives the Hawks a very dynamic one-two punch in Trae Young and LaVine. Both of these guys are All-Star talents and paired up together, they could complement one another really well.
Creating a fairly young trio even in Trae Young, Zach LaVine, and John Collins makes for an extremely athletic and high-scoring group. At full strength, this team would have Trae Young, Zach LaVine, Danillo Gallinari, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Clint Capela, De’Andre Hunter, John Collins, Rajon Rondo, and Kevin Huerter.
Not only is that a really deep team, but an all-around fantastic offensive team who can definitely make some noise come playoff time. Trading for Zach LaVine is a move the Atlanta Hawks must make, especially if they can keep guys like De’Andre Hunter and John Collins in the process.
