Zach LaVine
Since joining the Bulls ahead of the 2017-18 season, Zach LaVine has been very successful on the court, but Chicago as a whole has gone 71-158 these past three seasons, failing to win more than 27 games in each season. Now in the prime of his career, LaVine is wasting away the best years of his career, which could make him want to be traded from the Bulls.
Zach LaVine is one of the hottest names on the trade market right now and while the Bulls have not publicly made him available, they are definitely fielding interest from around the league and seeing what they could potentially get for a player of his caliber.
For a young team like the Bulls and for an organization that has been rebuilding ever since Michael Jordan retired following their 1998 championship, trading Zach LaVine would make a lot of sense because they could get the draft assets and young talent they need. This is why the Knicks would be such a great trade partner for the Chicago Bulls.
The Knicks have the assets to not only be able to acquire a player like Zach LaVine, but have the high-impact players left on their roster to be a legit playoff threat in the Eastern Conference. Not only could LaVine continue to play at a high-level and be a ball-dominant player, but he would have two other big-time options in Julius Randle and R.J. Barrett by his side.
If the Knicks truly want the All-Star caliber guard, then they will have to be aggressive in their pursuit for him as he is likely to be traded near this season’s trade deadline. The longer they wait, the more risk there is of him being off-the-market for years to come.
Not only would he be a great fit for the Knicks, but he already has a relationship with current head coach Tom Thibodeau. Thibs coached Zach LaVine for 47 games in Minnesota and the superstar guard was quite successful playing for him.
With the Knicks, not only could LaVine continue to put up numbers like he is in Chicago, but he could become a solid all-around two-way player in Tom Thibodeau’s defensive-oriented system. All-in-all, trading for Zach LaVine opens the doors for the Knicks to finally flip the script on their losing ways and potentially bring in a lot more All-Star level talents moving forward.
