Devin Booker
Before the Suns traded for Chris Paul and completely revamped their roster into a legit playoff contender, there were a lot of NBA trade rumors about Devin Booker’s future in Phoenix.
It’s safe to say, Devin Booker has had virtually no help over the years, but with Chris Paul, DeAndre Ayton, and a slew of high-level role players on their roster now, he may be more willing to give the Suns more chances as they are a legit playoff team in the Western Conference.
It is hard to believe Devin Booker is now in his 7th season in the NBA and after a dazzling 2019-20 season, one in which he made the All-Star game for the first time in his career, Booker has continued to be one of the best scoring guards in the entire league.
His numbers have declined a little bit this year because of some sacrifices he has made for guys like Chris Paul and Jae Crowder, but overall, Devin Booker is still a guy who could go out on any given night and torch a team for 40+ points. His overall scoring abilities make him one of the most unique players in the league and a player that could change the Knicks forever.
After this season, Chris Paul has a player option for the 2021-22 season and DeAndre Ayton will be entering the final year of his rookie contract next year. With Devin Booker under-contract through 2023, the Suns do not have to worry about him signing elsewhere, but they will have to worry about retaining their other star players.
If the Suns do not live up to the hype this year and Chris Paul and/or DeAndre Ayton explore other avenues with their respective careers, then Devin Booker could request a trade. He wants to win, something the Suns have not done early in his career and now in the prime of his career, Devin Booker does not want to waste away time.
If the Suns cannot produce with their star-studded trio, Booker could look to get out of Phoenix, leading to the Knicks being a very real landing spot. Next to R.J. Barrett and Julius Randle, Devin Booker would thrive, giving the New York Knicks a high-level trio and the scoring necessary to make some noise in the Eastern Conference.
