Why This Trade Would Benefit The Minnesota Timberwolves

The Timberwolves have one of the top big men in the league in Karl-Anthony Towns but they have not been able to perform well since he was drafted in 2015. The Timberwolves have been to the postseason just one time during Towns’ tenure. At this point, they just need some good players and there are few better than Kyrie Irving overall.

Landing a top-10 player in the NBA would make the Timberwolves relevant right away, even before he played a game. Irving is someone who can lead a team to the postseason. Karl-Anthony Towns is currently the franchise player in Minnesota. They used the first pick in the draft on Anthony Edwards and he is averaging 12.3 points in his first 16 career games.

There has been a lack of depth in Minnesota for quite some time now. The presence of Kyrie Irving is enough to turn things around. Dinwiddie is another starting-caliber guard and he showed that during the restart last season.

The Western Conference is extremely difficult and full of teams with elite duos. The Timberwolves have a chance to create one of their own with Irving and Towns.
