Trade No. 2

Miami Heat Receive: G Bradley Beal, F Troy Brown Jr.

Washington Wizards Receive: G Goran Dragic, G Tyler Herro, F Chris Silva, MIA 2022 1st Round Pick, MIA 2024 1st Round Pick, MIA 2027 1st Round Pick

Compared to the last trade package, this one is more oriented to if the Wizards wanted a more proven talent in Goran Dragic, as well as more draft compensation for Beal. They would still be getting Tyler Herro, who Washington would likely want in any trade involving their superstar guard, but instead of Achiuwa and Iguodala, the Wizards would be receiving Dragic and an extra first-round pick.

After averaging 16.2 points, 5.1 assists and shooting 44.1% from the floor last season, Goran Dragic has continued to thrive in his role off-the-bench with the Heat this year. His numbers are almost identical to last seasons and the spark he brings to the second-unit in Miami is a big difference maker.

Over the course of his career, Dragic has always been a very reliable point guard who has a “score-first” type of mentality. He has averaged 14.0 points per game over the course of his career and can be a reliable, veteran guard for the Wizards over the next two years of his contract.

Given that the Wizards would likely try to trade Westbrook if they traded away Beal, the 34-year old Heat guard could join the Wizards and immediately be an impact player for them in the time being. Not to mention, they could also flip him for more draft compensation, as Dragic definitely holds some value for many championship caliber teams looking for better guard play.

Ultimately, the best part about this draft package for the Washington Wizards is the draft compensation they receive. Getting three first-round picks and a “fourth” in Tyler Herro is extremely valuable to a franchise that has nothing going for them right now.

Having draft assets moving forward and the ability to draft high level talent is the only way for them to truly rebuild this franchise into a championship contender. As things stand right now, the Wizards do not have too many draft picks over the next few years, which is why this trade is even more valuable.
