If there is one thing we all know about Pat Riley, it is that he wants to win and will do anything it takes to make sure his team is winning and in contention for championships. He was the mastermind behind getting LeBron James and Chris Bosh to Miami back in 2010 and brought in Jimmy Butler to lead the Heat last offseason.

Riley and the Miami Heat front office are always targeting NBA superstars and All-Star level players, which is why going after Bradley Beal would not be surprising. When both Goran Dragic and Bam Adebayo went down in the NBA Finals for the Heat, it was clear to see Jimmy Butler was the only consistent scorer for the Heat and if they are to have any shot at winning an NBA title, they need to bring in another legit scorer so Jimmy Butler can do what he does best defensively.

Tyler Herro has been an excellent young player for the Miami Heat and they did just re-sign Andre Iguodala to a two-year extension, but they would definitely be willing to part ways with both of these guys if they had the chance to land Bradley Beal.

In 10 games this season, Herro is averaging 17.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists and is shooting 46.9% from the floor. Tyler Herro’s ability to score from virtually any spot on the court not only makes him a weapon now, but a guy who could turn into a really solid contributor for many years to come.

He was instrumental in the Heat’s NBA Finals run last season and this year, he had been one of their offensive leaders with Jimmy Butler sidelined due to injuries and safety protocols. In almost every trade for Beal, the Wizards would want at least Tyler Herro in return, as would they likely want a guy like Precious Achiuwa.

The 21-year old forward was drafted by the Heat 20th overall in the 2020 NBA Draft and has proven to be very reliable early on in his career. When Bam Adebayo missed 2 games this season due to health and safety protocols, Achiuwa averaged 13.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and shot 68.8% from the floor.

While they may not want to get rid of Beal, getting an established veteran player in Andre Iguodala, two fantastic looking young players in Herro and Achiuwa, as well as two first-round picks is a really good deal for Washington. Both Herro and Achiuwa on their own act as one or two first-round picks each and given this team’s lack of overall talent, this trade gives them what they need moving forward.
