Richaun Holmes

After letting Robin Lopez and Ersan Ilyasova go during the offseason and Marvin Williams retiring, the Bucks are pretty thin in their front-court. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis make up the two reliable options at power forward, leaving Brook Lopez as the only true center on the roster. Bolstering their center position and trading for a reliable backup center would be huge for the Bucks, which is why a player like Richaun Holmes would make sense.

His $5 million contract for the 2020-21 NBA season would be something the Bucks could easily trade for given their financial restrictions and Richaun Holmes has proven to be a pretty decent center. Last season with the Kings, he averaged 12.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.3 blocks, and shot 64.8% from the floor.

More and more in today’s NBA we are seeing seven-footers who are able to do more than just rebound and dunk, and this is exactly why Richaun Holmes is not only unique, but a must-add player for the Bucks in their championship pursuit. They already have the most dynamic big man in the league with Giannis Antetokounmpo, but adding Holmes to this front-court could do wonders for the Bucks.

Milwaukee currently leads the league in scoring and is third in the league in rebounding, which is why adding Richaun Holmes makes them an even more dangerous team. Brook Lopez is not the player he once was and he is fourth on the team in rebounding and fifth on the team in scoring.

If this team is going to contend with teams like the 76ers and the Lakers, who have two of the best big men in the league, they are going to need a diverse and versatile big man of their own outside of Giannis Antetokounmpo. Richaun Holmes is that guy and at just 27-years old, he could be a player they look to utilize next to Antetokounmpo for years to come.

Given the shooters and depth they have in their back-court, the Bucks bolstering their front-court would go a long way in their pursuit for a championship and would help them down the stretch. Adding another big body to the rotation not only keeps them at the top of the league in rebounding, but could make them one of the better defensive teams in the entire league.
