Wayne Ellington

Not only are the Lakers a Top-5 three-point shooting team, but they are a Top-5 bench scoring team in the league. They have a great amount of depth at every position and with the addition of Wayne Ellington, they would have another deadly three-point shooter they could relyon off-the-bench.

Ellington recently signed a one-year minimum deal with the Pistons, meaning he cannot be traded until Mar. 2 at the earliest, but the veteran wing brings a lot to the table for the defending champions. Not only is he another three-point weapon they could utilize next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis, but he is a very smart basketball player.

Over the course of his 11 years in the league, this year being his 12th, Wayne Ellington has played for 9 different NBA franchises, including the Lakers. Everywhere he has gone, he has not only been productive, but a great teammate that other guys love playing with.

In 12 games with Detroit this year, Ellington is having a career year, averaging 12.6 points, 2.1 rebounds and shooting 51.9% from three-point range. He is 40-77 from downtown this year and amongst the league leaders in three-point shooting percentage.

With Kentavious Caldwell-Pope already being a legit three-point threat on the wing, the Lakers could roll out a three-point heavy rotation with Ellington in the mix. Overall, trading for Ellington, especially since he is on a minimum contract, should be painless and easy for the Lakers, as they would likely have to give up one second-round pick and a guy like Talen Horton-Tucker or Alex Caruso.
