George Hill

Through the years, George Hill has consistently been a fantastic role player on any team he has been on and now, at 34-years old, brings a whole new aspect of the game with him. Given his experiences around the NBA and the teams he has been a part of, Hill knows what it takes to win and is willing to play any role his team needs him to play to be successful.

From playing with LeBron James to Giannis Antetokounmpo, George Hill has played with some of the best talents of this generation in the NBA and now, he could have the chance to play with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in Los Angeles.

Now in his 13th season in the NBA, Hill has averaged 11.1 points and 3.2 assists over the course of his career, while shooting 45.7% from the floor and 38.5% from three-point range. Just last season, George Hill led the league in three-point shooting percentage when he was with the Milwaukee Bucks, shooting 46% from deep on 176 attempts.

There is no future in Oklahoma City for the aging veteran guard, and the Thunder know this, which is exactly why he is one of the prime trade targets for a lot of championship contenders this season. The only “catch” to trading for Hill from the Clippers perspective is that he is another aging guard in their backcourt who will eat up salary space not just this year, but next as well.

George Hill is owed $9.5M this season and then $10M next year, but his contract for the 2021-22 season is partially-guaranteed for $1.3M, giving the Clippers the leverage in-terms of wanting to keep him after this season if they were to trade for him.

If Los Angeles truly want to have a shot at dethroning the Lakers in the Western Conference, then they need to not just add depth to their backcourt, but a very reliable and smart veteran guard like George Hill, who can immediately contribute and not have to get accustomed to any type of system. Hill knows what it takes to win and can help the Clippers do so immediately.
