Why This Trade Would Benefit The Houston Rockets
The plan with Victor Oladipo is unknown at the moment. The Rockets moved extremely fast when making the move to bring him to town after getting rid of James Harden. This made it seem like the team was interested in extending him long-term. Nothing has happened yet but that does not mean that a deal will not get done.
Either the team will sign him or this was a move to get another asset to trade. The rebuild is on in Houston. It began when they sent Russell Westbrook to Washington in exchange for Wall and continued with the Harden deal. This landed Houston a copious amount of draft picks for the future.
Oladipo is a player that is worth another first-round pick, even with his contract situation. Moving forward, Wood is the centerpiece player while Wall runs the point. Eric Gordon and PJ Tucker have been floating around in trade rumors as well.
The Rockets have many assets left that could be dealt to continue their rebuild. The new-look front office in Houston, Rafael Stone, could look to make some more big moves in hopes of building a winner.
