Why This Trade Would Benefit The Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets signed both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant last offseason in hopes of four years of competing for championships. Last year was derailed by injury and this season has gotten off to a slow start because of issues off the floor. It might seem like a surprise for Brooklyn to trade Irving but recent development has made it possible.

The obvious recent development was the trade for James Harden. This was one of the NBA trade rumors dating back to the offseason but the Nets seem to quiet down on possibilities. They were finally able to get a deal done and had to give up a ton of assets for Harden.

This trade would not only get rid of Irving but it would replenish assets that the team had to give up for him. This includes role players and draft picks.

If the Nets are all about winning, trading Irving would send a message to the entire organization. This is year two of their four-year plan and the team would like to win right away.
