Why This Trade Would Benefit The Houston Rockets
It was interesting to see the Houston Rockets go out and get Victor Oladipo as quickly as they did right after sending James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets. This makes you think that the front office has a plan for the guard moving forward but nothing has happened yet. There is still time prior to the NBA trade deadline for something to happen.
Oladipo is a low-risk, high-reward option for Houston. He has just one year left on his contract so the team is not locked up for a long time. If they want to re-sign him, the price could be hefty considering he turned down a deal from the Pacers that would have paid starting out at $25 million in the first season.
With the current state of the Rockets rebuild, Oladipo is also a valuable trade piece. This could be why they acquired him in the first place. They could continue to build assets by sending Oladipo away to a contending team.
It is going to be extremely interesting to see how this new-look front office handles the current situation with the team. They have already made several big splash moves to this point and could be looking at another one.
