Why This Trade Would Benefit The Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets signed both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving during the last offseason. This turned them into immediate championship contenders before the season was destroyed by injury. Coming into this season, the Nets were healthy and championship aspirations were back on. There was a bit of a distraction with Irving over the past couple of weeks.

Irving missed time due to personal reasons and did not keep in touch with the Nets during the process. If Brooklyn is all about winning this season, sending Irving away would send a big message. DeMar DeRozan would bring even more star power to the lineup. He would be a short-term option given the fact that he is in the final year of his contract.

Dejounte Murray is turning into one of the best young players in the game. The Nets would quickly retool the point guard position and their draft capital. They were forced to part ways with a ton of picks for James Harden and could get some back here.

Brooklyn is in a position to part ways with Irving. They would be left with a dynamic duo of Kevin Durant and James Harden to lead the way along with a few new weapons. This deal would completely rebuild all assets for Brooklyn moving forward.
