Why This Trade Would Benefit The San Antonio Spurs
The San Antonio Spurs have been one of the most successful teams in the NBA over the last two decades. They missed out on the postseason for the first time in 22 years during the restart and could find their way back quickly with a deal like this. When on the floor, Kyrie Irving is still one of the top-10 players in the league.
Irving has caused problems for all teams he has been apart of. It began with the Cleveland Cavaliers and continued when he was sent to Boston. Now, the Nets are getting a taste. Gregg Popovich is the perfect head coach to get things in line.
He has control of the Spurs’ franchise and would be able to get the team back to the top. San Antonio would have to give up a lot in this deal but it could be worth it if Irving is able to get them back to the top of the conference.
This may take some time as the franchise puts some players around him. Irving is good enough to make the Spurs a playoff team ad would be the first step towards another championship.
