Why This Trade Would Benefit The Minnesota Timberwolves

This is not the first NBA trade rumor involving Karl-Anthony Towns. During the offseason, his name was thrown around in potential trades because of his feelings during the current situation in Minnesota. If this is true, the Timberwolves would be able to dump an unhappy player and get rid of a huge contract.

Minnesota would also get back a large haul. Both John Collins and Clint Capela are helpful players. Collins is scoring 16.7 points per game and is beginning to develop a shot from three-point range.

Capela is a double-double machine averaging 14.3 points and 14.2 rebounds per contest. Okongwu and two first-round picks just make this deal even better for Minnesota.

At some point, a franchise has to admit that something is wrong and blow it up. The Timberwolves are rapidly getting close to that point, if they aren’t there already. The Hawks have an ascending star in Trae Young to build around and perhaps they could have better luck with Towns.

The Timberolves have shown that they can come in last place with Towns. There would be no difference without him. It has been difficult to build around Towns so one option is to trade him and head in a different direction.
