Why This Trade Would Benefit The Atlanta Hawks

It is not easy to rebuild in the NBA. It takes time, unless a team is able to land a superstar in free agency. The Hawks made some improvements in the offseason but they did not add a huge game-changer. Trae Young was added in the draft two years ago and has turned into the franchise player.

A trade such as this one would send the Hawks in a completely different direction. They would create a duo of Kemba Walker and John Collins to lean on for the future.

The way to build in the league is through the draft. This trade would give the Hawks a ton of first-round draft capital moving forward. Essentially taking the Celtics’ draft for the next seven years would be emblematic of the trade package the Rockets received for James Harden.

This is a deal that would certainly surprise the basketball world. If the front office in Atlanta wants to make an impact, this is a way to do it. There isn’t a reason to move on from Young, of course, but this is one of those classic cases of an offer being too good to refuse.
