Target No. 1 – George Hill
Through the years, George Hill has consistently been a fantastic role player on any team he has been on and now, at 34-years old, brings a whole new aspect of the game with him. Given his experiences around the NBA and the teams he has been a part of, Hill knows what it takes to win and is willing to play any role his team needs him to play to be successful.
From 2011-16, George Hill was a key member of the Indiana Pacers organization and they were the team that really gave him a chance in the NBA. In 5 seasons with the Pacers, Hill started 270 games and he thrived in whatever role they needed him in.
While he is much older now than he was then, George Hill can still contribute to the Pacers and make a difference for them off-the-bench. Last season, he led the NBA in three-point shooting percentage at 46% with the Bucks, and with the Pacers not really having a reliable ball-handler behind Brogdon with Oladipo gone now, George Hill could have a major impact on this Pacers team.
George Hill can absolutely be a security blanket for this team in the second-unit and his overall understanding of the game can be a major asset in their efforts to make a deep playoff run. The Pacers have lost in the first-round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs for five consecutive years now and if they are to finally break through and make it to the semifinals, then they will need another reliable point guard to turn to.
Given Hill’s history with this organization and his consistency through the years, it would make a lot of sense for Indiana to want to bring him back. All the Thunder would likely want in return for Hill is a draft pick, making this trade extremely do-able for the Pacers and extremely worthwhile.
