The Dallas Mavericks feel like they are close. The team landed their franchise player on draft night in 2018 when they traded Trae Young to Atlanta for Luka Doncic. This changed the direction of the franchise and it has not taken long for them to become a playoff team.

The Mavericks were without Kristaps Porzingis for the beginning of the season. With him on the floor, they are completely different team. They were the seven seed during the restart last year and were taken out in six games by the Los Angeles Clippers. This is where another star will come in the play and benefit the team.
