This Kings-Pistons trade features Buddy Hield for Derrick Rose swap

Entering the NBA Bubble in Orlando, the Sacramento Kings had a slim chance to make the playoffs, but they had a chance! The Kings came up short of making the NBA playoffs for the 14th straight season, the longest active playoff drought in the NBA, and are now just one season away from tying the longest playoff drought in NBA history. Could a trade with the Detroit Pistons for Derrick Rose help?

While the Sacramento Kings have not had a winning season since the 2005-06 NBA season, they have been getting better over the last two years and have been just a couple of games back from the playoff hunt. A large part of that is because of their young duo in the backcourt in De’Aaron Fox and Buddy Hield.

While Fox is more of an athletic playmaker who can attack the rim with ease, Hield tends to play more on the perimeter and is a high-volume three-point shooter. The two young players have led the Kings to back-to-back 30-win seasons and with a little extra help, this team could find themselves as the 8th seed in the Western Conference.

The one thing that could wind up holding them back though is Buddy Hield’s relationship with Sacramento’s front-office and his relationship with head coach Luke Walton. Last year, Walton benched Hield multiple times during the regular season due to arguments and frustration and at times during this past offseason, the Kings’ head coach was unable to contact Hield.

Given the Kings’ struggles through the years, Buddy Hield definitely has a reason to be frustrated and as a result, he could be a player that ends up on the move near the trade deadline this season. Could Detroit be a possible suitor for the 28-year old shooting guard?

Let’s take a look at a potential trade that would send Buddy Hield to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for three interesting role players.
