Why This Trade Would Benefits The Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cleveland Cavaliers acquired Andre Drummond prior to the NBA shut down last season so it was assumed that the two sides had a mutual interest in an extension. Nothing has happened just yet but that does not mean that nothing will. The front office in Cleveland will have a decision to make regarding their big man.

Drummond is in the final year of his contract. If Cleveland is unable to work out an extension then it would benefit them to send him away in a trade. Otherwise, Drummond would be eligible to leave in free agency next year with no return coming back to the Cavaliers.

This is something that the team cannot let happen. In this particular deal, they would get back Aaron Nesmith and Grant Williams who could either help the team or be thrown in another deal. They would also get a second-round pick that could also be moved as a trade asset.

Cleveland is a franchise with many decisions to make moving forward and it begins with the status of Drummond and Love. It will be interesting to see what the team decides to do as we move forward.
