Why This Trade Would Benefit The New Orleans Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans built a young core when they sent Anthony Davis to the Los Angeles Lakers. This the deal where they were able to acquire Ingram, Lonzo Ball, and Josh Hart. The Pelicans then won the Zion Williamson sweepstakes during the draft lottery in 2019.

This has the franchise pointed in the right direction and this trade could take them up a notch. Irving is still one of the 10 best players in the league when he is on the floor. He is scoring 27.1 points per game this season. The point guard is turning into the most important position on the floor.

The NBA is a league that is dominated by perimeter players and this is a chance for the Pelicans to add one of the best. To compete in the extremely difficult Western Conference, stars will have to be teamed up on one team. Irving would be a tremendous fit alongside Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson.

The Pelicans can get three together right here. If a deal is not made, New Orleans will still be in a good position for the future but it will take a few years for them to be taken seriously.
