Trade No. 2 – Charlotte Hornets
Houston Rockets Receive: G Malik Monk, F Miles Bridges
Charlotte Hornets Receive: G/F Eric Gordon
The Charlotte Hornets have been one of the all-around most improved teams in the NBA this season as they truly look like a team who could contend for one of the final playoff spots in the Eastern Conference. Led by veteran wing Gordon Hayward, this Hornets team is different because they have numerous guys who can score in double-figures and are a very unselfish team.
Through 12 games played this year, the Hornets first in the NBA in assists per game, in large part to rookie sensation, LaMelo Ball. The third overall pick in this past year’s NBA Draft has gotten off to a fast start in his young career, averaging about 5.9 assists per game and being one of the more “flashy” passers in the entire league.
The one problem with this team is outside of Gordon Hayward and Terry Rozier, scoring can be hard to come by at times with this squad. They rank 24th in the league in points per game and 18th in three-point shooting percentage, which is why they could use a reliable, proven scorer like Gordon.
This year’s Charlotte team is one of the younger teams in the entire league, as their oldest player is Gordon Hayward (30). Adding an experienced, veteran scorer like Eric Gordon could not only aid the Hornets on the court, but off the court as well.
Gordon has found a lot of success in his career and by being a role model and mentor for some of the young players in Charlotte, this team as a whole could vastly improve. The only thing about this trade is that Charlotte may not be too keen with giving up Miles Bridges.
While he has struggled early on in his career, the Hornets are still very high on him and are excited about his potential moving forward. Houston would definitely want a guy like Miles Bridges or P.J. Washington if they were to trade Eric Gordon to the Hornets, which is why Bridges is the guy on the move in this trade scenario.
If Charlotte wants to add a dynamic scorer, who can also contribute on the defensive end of the court, they should look no further than Eric Gordon, who they can likely acquire at a cheaper price than this trade package above.
