James Harden finally got his wish on Wednesday afternoon as the Houston Rockets were finally able to reach an agreement with the Brooklyn Nets to reunite Harden with his old teammate Kevin Durant and former NBA champion, Kyrie Irving. Not only does this trade shake up things in both the Eastern and Western Conferences, but the trade package involved the Nets, Rockets, Cavaliers, and even the Pacers.
In this multi-team deal, the Nets received James Harden and the Rockets made out with Caris LeVert, Dante Exum, Rodions Kurucs, three Brooklyn first-round picks (2022, 2024, 2026), one Milwaukee first-round from Cleveland (2022, unprotected), and four Brooklyn first-round pick swaps in 2021, 2023, 2025 and 2027. Then, the Cavaliers received both Jarrett Allen and Taurean Prince in the deal.
Shortly after the news broke that Harden was going to Brooklyn, it was then reported that Victor Oladipo was being sent to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Caris LeVert and a future second-round pick. So when all was said and done, the Rockets ended up with all the picks outlined above, Victor Oladipo, Dante Exum and Rodions Kurucs.
Victor Oladipo has missed a lot of games over the last two seasons due to a ruptured quadriceps tendon, but this season, he looks fully healthy out there on the court and looks like the All-Star he once was not too long ago. If Oladipo can remain healthy, he could be a key player for Houston moving forward, but he is on an expiring contract and multiple teams reportedly are still interested in trading for him.
Could the Rockets not be done yet making deals and look to trade away Victor Oladipo for more draft picks and young talent? Let’s take a look at three teams who should try and acquire Oladipo from the Houston Rockets.
