Miami Heat Receive: Blake Griffin

Detroit Pistons Receive: Kelly Olynyk, Andre Iguodala, 2022 2nd Round Pick (via PHI or DEN — less favorable)

Blake Griffin has a couple of years left on his deal and the Detroit Pistons could be looking to get rid of his contract with their new depth in the frontcourt. The Miami Heat would gladly take on the contract given their win-now position.

Griffin would have a chance to contribute to a contending team once again. It has been a rough start to the NBA season for Griffin after coming off an injury. With Jerami Grant playing at such a high level, both sides would benefit from a change.

Detroit would take on Kelly Olynyk and Andre Igoudala in this deal. They would not be long-term answers as the contracts are short. Both are making less money than Griffin which would put the Pistons in a more favorable situation. They would also receive a second-round pick in the 2022 draft.

Let’s take a closer look and see how this deal would benefit each team moving forward.
