Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Denver Nuggets

When you look at the stats for the Denver Nuggets and see Garry Harris in the starting lineup for them at the shooting guard position, it is clear to see that he is holding them back this year. HE is struggling offensively with his shot and he just does not look like the same player that averaged 17.5 points per game while shooting over 40% from three-point range a few seasons ago.

This is a major concern for Denver right now because they have not only struggled early on in the year as a result, but they are coming off a postseason run in which they made the Western Conference Finals. The expectations for them are very high this season both in and out of the organization and Harris is not contributing to winning right now.

Trading him away now and getting two guys like Derrick Rose and Delon Wright in exchange could be extremely beneficial to this team now as they try to replicate their success they had a season ago and potentially make their first NBA Finals appearance since 1976.

As mentioned earlier, Derrick Rose would not only help contribute offensively, but he would take a lot of pressure off of Nikola Jokci to be the team’s primary ball-handler and main facilitator. Jokic makes up just under half of his team’s total assists per game and at times, he is held back from being the offensive weapon he is because of the fact that he is one of the team’s only playmakers and passers.

Bringing in Rose not only allows Jokic to thrive as an offensive player, but it allows the entire Denver offense to open up just a little bit more because of both Rose’s and Jokic’s abilities to find their open teammates. Not to mention, it would make them harder to guard as well because of their passing abilities.

Derrick Rose is a guy that makes everyone around him better and a guy other players love playing with. He is such a respectable guy and has fought through so much adversity that he is a great locker room player to have on any roster.

Delon Wright can also contribute now to the Nuggets and fill the spot Harris would leave behind. He is more than capable of knocking down three-point shots and he helps provide some depth on the wing for this team, something they do not currently have.

Overall, it may seem crazy to think the Nuggets would be willing to trade Gary Harris, especially after the success he has had early in his career, but they need to win now and the best way to do so would be trading him away for Derrick Rose and Delon Wright. Getting two impactful role players for the price of one should be a no-brainer for Denver in this situation.
