Denver Nuggets Receive: G Derrick Rose, G Delon Wright
Detroit Pistons Receive: G Gary Harris
Outside of Nikola Jokic, this team does not really have a reliable passer, as Jamal Murray is more of a score-first type of guard instead of a floor general as a facilitator. Derrick Rose is the complete opposite of Murray and while he can provide some much needed scoring at times, he is a much better floor general and can take a lot of pressure off of Jokic.
For years now, Rose has been trying to build himself back into a reliable, high-level player after suffering some gruesome knee injuries over the course of his career. While it took some time, Minnesota and Detroit have given him a chance these last two seasons and he has proven that he can still contribute to any team in the NBA.
In the last two seasons with Minnesota and Detroit, Derrick Rose has played in 101 games and has averaged 18.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and shot 48.6% from the floor. While he is not the NBA MVP-caliber player he once was, Derrick Rose can still contribute at a high-level and can make a difference for the Nuggets both on and off the court as a veteran leader.
Delon Wright was recently traded to the Detroit Pistons this offseason after playing in 73 games with the Mavericks last year. In those games, Wright averaged 6.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists and shot 46.2% from the floor, 37% from three-point range. Over the course of his career, he has always been known to be a perimeter-oriented threat, which is what Denver needs the most.
While Gary Harris showed promise early in his career to be a great “3-and-D” player, his shooting numbers and offensive production has declined through the years due to injuries. His struggles have definitely affected the Nuggets and getting D-Rose could ultimately help them win games now more than having Harris could.
The Nuggets have not actively shopped Gary Harris and have not made it known whether or not they would like to move him, but if the right opportunity came their way, they would likely highly-consider trading him. With that being said, let’s take a closer look as to why exactly this trade makes sense for both the Denver Nuggets and the Detroit Pistons.
