This Bulls-Hornets trade sends Zach LaVine to Charlotte

The Chicago Bulls are a team with some good players but have not been able to put it together. Usually, those things do not go together but they have for Chicago in recent NBA seasons. Who knows. Moving forward, the Bulls have options of big-name players to send away— including Zach LaVine.

This offseason, both Zach LaVine and Lauri Markannen have been featured in NBA trade rumors. Recently, Coby White’s name has been thrown around. Either way, the front office will have a plan for the players they keep paired with the return.

In this trade, LaVine is the name being sent away. He is leading the team with 24.7 points per game during their underwhelming start to the season. The Hornets are a team that comes to mind when discussing potential landing spots for LaVine.

Just like Chicago, the Hornets have some big-name players on their roster. They are loaded in the backcourt. Devonte’ Graham burst onto the scene last season and was paired with Terry Rozier. Charlotte used the third-overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft on LaMelo Ball and signed Gordon Hayward in free agency.

It might make sense if the Hornets targeted a big like Lauri Markkanen, but LaVine is too good to turn down. It could help Charlotte to consolidate some of their pieces into a more dynamic option— helping the team to take the next step.

This would be a surprising trade to see go through but that is what makes the NBA great. Here is what it might take to see something like this happen.
