This Celtics-Knicks trade would send Mitchell Robinson to Boston

Why This Trade Would Benefit The Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics entered the NBA offseason with three first-round picks and a glaring need down low. There were rumors of them packaging their three picks to move up in the draft or selecting an impact big with one of them. They decided not to move up and sign Tristan Thompson to help.

The Celtics were eliminated in the Eastern Conference Finals by the Miami Heat. Bam Adebayo of Miami was able to get comfortable night in and night out against the weak frontcourt in Boston. This was a huge problem and something that Danny Ainge was looking to target right away. That did not happen but it is never too late.

Prior to the upcoming NBA trade deadline, it would not be surprising to see Ainge go all-in on a big. Boston has shown this area to continue to be a vulnerability despite signing Thompson in free agency.

Robinson fits the bill because of his athleticism and ability to get up and down the floor. He is a talented shot blocker and will improve as a rebound as he gets older and more mature in the league.
