Why This Trade Would Benefit The Philadelphia 76ers

For the Philadelphia 76ers, this trade is a bit more confusing and difficult to explain. When Daryl Morey took over in the front office, he expressed no interest in trading either Ben Simmons or Joel Embiid. Obviously, if this deal is through, something has changed.

The only explanation is that the franchise decided to completely build around Ben Simmons since the duo has failed to win over the last few years. They would continue to add shooters around Simmons in the form of Buddy Hield and get a big back in return.

Hield has been linked to the 76ers but it has been in much smaller deals than this. When coupled with Seth Curry on the perimeter, Philadelphia would have an incredible level of shooting around Simmons.

The 76ers might be able to get a bigger return for a player such as Embiid. They will certainly way their options if they put him on the trading block and see what they can get back.
