Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Milwaukee Bucks
Even though the Milwaukee Bucks have started off the season hot on the offensive end of the court and look like one of the better overall shooting teams in the NBA, there is nothing wrong with going out and getting more perimeter-oriented talent, especially for an older player that has seen his role slowly decline over the years.
When looking at this trade full picture, the Bucks would basically be trading away two future second-round picks and Brook Lopez for Eric Gordon, which should be viewed as a big win for this organization. Gordon is a great offensive player to have on the roster and could easily be a great Sixth-Man for Milwaukee in their efforts to reach the NBA Finals.
Brook Lopez and D.J. Wilson are two very replaceable players on this roster and honestly, both Eric Gordon and Danuel House Jr. seem to fit the Bucks scheme better. They are two perimeter-focused wings who can spread the floor around Giannis and give the Bucks the shooting depth they need to maintain their success.
The only part of this trade that could potentially negatively affect Milwaukee is the fact that they already have a limited amount of draft picks due to the massive overhaul of picks they traded away to acquire Jrue Holiday. By making this trade, the Bucks would be left with 5 total draft picks through 2027, which could be a cause for concern moving forward, but this team is all-in on winning now.
If they truly want to win now and potentially win a championship, then draft picks cannot be in the equation for the Bucks front-office. Even if Houston wanted a first-round pick in return for this trade, Milwaukee would likely be willing to match their offer because of the type of impact both Gordon and House can have on this roster.
This is a no-brainer trade for the Milwaukee Bucks and it would solidify them as the team to beat in the Eastern Conference, over the likes of the Philadelphia 76ers and the Brooklyn Nets.
