Milwaukee Bucks Receive: G Eric Gordon, G/F Danuel House
Houston Rockets Receive: C Brook Lopez, F D.J. Wilson, MIL 2022 2nd Round Pick, MIL 2024 2nd Round Pick
Eric Gordon is in the first year of a four-year contract extension, which may not be ideal for the Milwaukee Bucks, especially since they are dangerously close to being over the tax threshold this season and will likely be over it next season as a result of Giannis’ contract-extension, but he is exactly the kind of player they need to add on the wing.
Gordon is now in his 13th season in the NBA and has consistently been the same player year-in and year-out for any team that he is on. Whether it is in the starting lineup or coming off the bench, he knows his role with the team he is on and is a great “3-and-D” player in today’s game.
Over the course of his career, he has averaged 16.6 points and has shot 42.5% from the floor and 36.9% from three-point range. After dealing with some injuries last season that kept him sidelined for most of the year, Gordon has looked great to begin this season with the Houston Rockets and could be the role player the Bucks need to add on the wing to finally break through and make it to the NBA Finals.
Now in his fifth season in the NBA, Danuel House Jr. is an interesting wing player who has really created a role for himself in the NBA with the Houston Rockets over the years. Since joining Houston ahead of the 2018-19 season, House has averaged 10.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and has shot 43.8% from the floor and 36.5% from three-point range.
Much like Gordon, House is another one of those guys who is more than comfortable being a “3-and-D” type of player and always plays with a chip on his shoulder as a result of going undrafted in 2016. Every time he steps out on the court, he has something to prove and he could be a valuable role player off the bench for Milwaukee.
Brook Lopez has been a reliable role player for the Bucks over the years and while he has been an anchor for their defense next to Giannis in the frontcourt, his role with this team has slowly diminished over time. With Milwaukee going with a more offensive-minded approach to things, Lopez’s minutes have begun to decline and his productivity has as well.
With Houston’s needs in the frontcourt for a rebounder like Lopez and their willingness to trade away assets for draft picks, this trade could very well happen and work out more in the Bucks favor than the Rockets’. So, then why would Houston want to make this trade?
Let’s take a closer look at how both teams could benefit from this trade that sends Eric Gordon and Danuel House to the Milwaukee Bucks.
