This Knicks-Nuggets trade would send Julius Randle to Denver

The Denver Nuggets did not just exceed the expectations set on them at the beginning of the 2019-20 NBA season, they shattered them! This team wound up finishing 46-27 on the season and made it all the way to the Western Conference Finals, learning a lot about their future in the process. Jamal Murray has consistently been getting better year after year in the league, but he was on a whole different level for the Denver Nuggets down in the NBA Bubble.

During the Nuggets postseason run in the NBA Bubble, Murray averaged 26.5 points, 6.6 assists, 4.8 rebounds while shooting 50.5% from the floor and 45.3% from three-point range. He was arguably one of the toughest players to guard in the NBA during this span and set some new records along the way.

Jamal Murray made a total of 62 3-pointers in his 19-game postseason run, setting the All-Time record for any player 25-years old or younger in a single postseason, he scored 40+ points in four games during the Nuggets postseason run, including two 50-point games in the first-round of the Western Conference playoffs against the Utah Jazz and Murray joined his opponent, Donovan Mitchell as two of only four players in NBA history to score 50+ points twice in the same playoff series, joining the likes of Michael Jordan (1988) and Allen Iverson (2001).

Now, Jamal Murray enters his fifth season in the NBA with some very high expectations. If he can play at the level he did last postseason, then Jamal Murray will be named a first-time NBA All-Star, giving the Nuggets two NBA All-Star players, the other being Nikola Jokic.

Losing Jerami Grant definitely has hurt the Nuggets early on in the season and while the emergence of Michael Porter Jr. being their third high-level scorer is fantastic, it still seems like this team is missing something. Outside of Jokic, this team does not really have a reliable rebounder and they are struggling to find reliable production on the wing outside of Porter Jr.

Julius Randle not only had a great season with the Knicks last year, but he is having a fantastic season so far this year and looking like an NBA All-Star early on in the season. With the level he is playing at and the ability to be a “mini-Jokic” type player, he could be a very intriguing trade target for Denver.

Let’s take a look at a possible trade that would send Julius Randle and a veteran wing to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for “3-and-D” shooting guard and a first-round pick.
