Alec Burks – New York Knicks

If the Dallas Mavericks truly wants to try and add one of the top three-point shooters in the NBA who is very affordable, they should look no further than Alec Burks, who just signed a one-year, $6M contract with the New York Knicks this NBA offseason. He cannot be traded until February 18th at the earliest, but Burks has established himself as a reliable and big-time threat from the perimeter over the years.

While he has only played in three games for the Knicks this season, he is shooting 66.7% from three-point range. Over the course of his career, Alec Burks has averaged 36.8% from three-point range and about 10.3 points per game. He could provide a spark alongside Luka Doncic throughout games.

Since the start of the 2018-19 NBA season, Burks has been on 6 different teams and if the Mavericks were able to acquire him, they would become the 7th team he has been on in the last three seasons. The sharpshooting wing is a very undervalued player across the league and does not get the recognition he deserves.

At 29-years old now, Alec Burks is a proven talent who can definitely be a legit contributor off the bench for any playoff contending team. Burks has a small salary to take on and his asking price is not over-the-top, as the Mavs could potentially acquire him for a late first-round pick, or a player like Dorian Finney-Smith and a second-round pick.

His ability to play either shooting guard or small forward and be a reliable scorer makes him extremely valuable for any championship contending team and with the struggles Dallas has with three-point shooting right now, there are no negatives to bringing in a guy like Burks.

With a low cost and a small contract, Burks is exactly the type of player the Dallas Mavericks needs to solidify their roster as a championship-caliber team.
