Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Los Angeles Lakers
You can never have too much talent in the backcourt in today’s NBA and even though LeBron James is the primary ball-handler for the Lakers, he still needs reliable guards that he can turn to and feel comfortable with. Not only would Rose play his role off the bench perfectly, but he would have a great relationship with LeBron James because of their experiences against one-another.
They both respect each other’s games tremendously, which is why they could actually compliment each other pretty well. Not to mention, Rose has always been a guy that when on the court, he makes everyone around him a better player as a result of his vision and unselfish play-style.
Bringing in Derrick Rose in a title defense season makes perfect sense for the Lakers because he is in the final year of his contract and would not be a burden on the Lakers’ payroll moving forward. Guard play is extremely important in today’s game and having two reliable and veteran guys in Rose and Schroder allows the Lakers to be comfortable with LeBron and Davis not on the court.
Both guys are more than capable of being leaders on the court and with the roster the Lakers already have, Derrick Rose would not have to be someone he isn’t. He could play at his own pace and not have to worry about pushing himself to the point of injury. Derrick Rose on the Lakers has been something that has been rumored for a while now and is a very real possibility.
Upgrading their guard depth by trading away Alex Caruso to get Derrick Rose is definitely a win for the Lakers, but the question that remains is if they are willing to trade Talen Horton-Tucker and two draft picks as well. No matter who the Lakers offer player wise, Detroit will want at least one draft pick in return for the former league MVP.
If the Lakers are willing to offer what the Pistons seek, there is no reason why Derrick Rose will not be wearing purple and gold come playoff time. He can make a big difference in this team’s pursuit for back-to-back championships and at the affordable price tag he has on him, the Lakers need to pull the trigger and bring Derrick Rose to Los Angeles.
