This Clippers-Spurs trade would send an intriguing shooter to L.A.

Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Clippers

Los Angeles has Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Serge Ibaka, and Lou Williams as its top four scoring options, but they seem to have some problems in terms of bench depth, especially in their back-court. Outside of Luke Kennard, the Clippers do not really have many options off the bench, which could be problematic come playoff time.

Patty Mills is a player who can not only contribute at a high level, but he makes a big difference in terms of perimeter-oriented offense in the second unit for the Spurs. Last season, the Clippers ranked sixth during the regular season in three-point shooting percentage and with the addition of Mills, they could end up being a very dangerous shooting team once again.

So far this season in five games with the Spurs, Patty Mills has shot 47.4% from three-point range and is having one of the best scoring seasons he has had in previous years. As much of an impact as he could make on the court for Los Angeles, he could make just as much of a difference off the court and in the locker room.

For years now, Mills has been a guy that everyone in the Spurs organization absolutely loves and respects a lot, which is why he could fit in well with the Clippers. They need a leader outside of Kawhi and PG13 in the locker room, which is why trading for Mills makes even more sense.

The Clippers need scoring talent and shooters to bring in the game off the bench, especially since they are one of the older teams in the league, which is why Mills could end up being the high-impact bench player they need to make a run in the playoffs.
