Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Bulls

Whether or not the Bulls decide to trade Zach LaVine remains a big question and storyline that will be brought up throughout the 2020-21 NBA season, but in the event that Chicago does look to move LaVine, they could get a really good trade package in return from the Bucks.

Getting Brook Lopez gives the Bulls a veteran, reliable player in their front-court to pair with their young talents of Lauri Markkanen and Wendell Carter Jr. and the addition of Donte DiVincenzo could go a long way as well as they continue to stockpile youthful talent.

With the shooting guard position open after trading away LaVine, DiVincenzo could slide right into the starting role next to Coby White in the back-court and create a pretty powerful duo for Chicago. Both guys were high-level scorers in college and could continue doing so for many years with the Bulls.

The best part about this trade for the Bulls though is the draft assets they would get from Milwaukee. Not only does getting all of these draft picks cripple the Bucks’ draft capital for years to come, but it continues to grow the amount of draft assets the Bulls have.

This trade would give the Bulls 11 draft picks through 2024 and plenty of options to work with in terms of building a young core or bringing in a better fit, All-Star like talent to replace LaVine.

It seems like Zach LaVine’s days in Chicago are numbered and getting a return of young talent and an established veteran like Lopez could go a very long way in Chicago’s rebuilding process and finally get them back to the playoffs for the first time since 2017.
