This Hawks-Rockets trade forms a Trae Young, James Harden superstar duo

Why This Trade Would Benefit The Houston Rockets

There isn’t a potential superstar in this trade for the Houston Rockets but there are plenty of solid talents. It would be difficult to land a player of that caliber in a trade for James Harden unless it was the Philadelphia 76ers engaged in a deal and they were willing to part with Ben Simmons.

John Collins has developed quite nicely as an overall player in recent NBA seasons and would be the most capable of making an immediate impact. He has emerged as a high-level rim roller who can step out and hit from deep. That’s a helpful combination to have alongside John Wall, just as he has playing with Trae Young.

De’Andre Hunter and Onyeka Okongwu both are young players who haven’t yet proven to be dynamic talents but have all the right intangibles to be helpful contributors. Hunter could fill a valuable wing role and it’s hard to find players on rookie contracts who can get that done.

When considering how many young players would be involved in this particular trade, there isn’t a need to get back quite as many first-round draft selections. Kevin Huerter still has potential at the NBA level, so he shouldn’t be forgotten about either.
